Membership in a Greek-letter organization provides lifelong opportunities for friendship and personal development. Joining a women's organization while in college can help make your campus your home away from home.
Since our founding in 1904, Alpha Gamma Delta has been dedicated to academic excellence, leadership development, high ideals and sisterhood. We are active in our campusus and our communities.
Support begins the moment you join Alpha Gamma Delta and continues through the rest of your life. As a collegian you will have a sister-mother who serves as an older member to mentor you through the new member process. Chapter life will provide you with leadership opportunities. Graduation brings more great opportunities. Alumnae clubs, chapters and Junior Circles provide you with a resource system of friends and opportunities to contribute to your local community. The friendships you make in Alpha Gam will support you throughout your life.
Membership as a collegian takes place through a process called Formal Recruitment, which is organized by the local College Panhellenic. To learn more about joining a Greek women's organization, contact the National Panhellenic Conference.
Pledging can be defined as joining a fraternity and preparing to become an initiated member of that organization. Women who are pledging Alpha Gamma Delta are referred to as "new members" until they are initiated into the Fraternity as collegiate members. We welcome your daughter into our International organization and want to express our sincere concern for your daughter's interests and well being. It is through this concern that Alpha Gamma Delta, as a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, prohibits any form of hazing or other undignified procedures.
Individual chapter programs are carefully supervised in Alpha Gamma Delta. Mature guidance for each chapter exists in an Executive Council that includes the major collegiate officer and local alumnae that advise in scholarship, finance, recruitment, housing/property and member development.
In addition, each new member is paired with a sister-mother—an initiated member who serves as a personal guide and friend throughout your daughter's first months in Alpha Gamma Delta.
